Lol latest because I'm lazy! But I had an AWESOME time at Summerfest on Sunday :D My bffl and I went down there to see The Airborne Toxic Event. We shopped (I bought an ear cuff! And a purse that has David Bowie looking sexily dubious on it!) and then hung out at the 102.1 stage (local alternative station) to get good seats. They were doing their ~Emerging Artist~ Showcase, so I saw some fun new bands that I wouldn't have seen otherwise! The Elusive Parallelograms were pretty cool, but they dimmed massively when compared to The Shackeltons. Seriously, if you guys get a chance to see this band (they're from Pennsylvania, I believe) DO IT. They have a song about a man searching for his love in the Chicago fire and one about a "lady pirate, who we will call a piratess" and an insane amount of energy. They got in trouble--pre-show for apparently trying to pick the foliage they strew across the stage inside the park, then for jumping off the amps, and then for throwing things into the crowd. I caught a flower though! It was really fun :) I didn't have enough cash left to buy any of their merch, but the lead singer signed my David Bowie purse. The next band was Kingsfall, who were decent, but didn't have the same showmanship. I caught one of their drumsticks!
During this period in time, the 102.1 staff dudes were wandering around, and since bffl and I were sitting 2nd row center, they came over to us and were like "Hey, who are you here to see? ...you want to meet the band?" So we got Meet&Greet! Unexpectedly! But awesomely! I've never done one before, and I was afraid it would be awkward, but it was great! The station gave us posters to get signed, and the whole band was super sweet. The drummer complimented my Bowie purse, the lead singer doodled on my poster while I was waiting to move to the next person, and the bassist high-fived me and pulled the drumstick from Kingsfall out of my purse to ask the drummer about the "weird coating" and be music nerdy (he then banged the drumstick on the table and went :D IT WORKS! :D) They were super friendly, and I got everyone's autograph, and then bffl and I had our picture taken with all of them :D
Of course, by this point, the first headliner, Cage the Elephant was setting up, and the place was PACKED. Being a complete and utter dumbass, I had left my original purse (after putting all my money and stuff into Bowie) at our seat after asking the girl next to us to save them for us. Shit /o\ I had to sneak back in through everyone standing on benches and got beer dumped on me /o\ But I got my purse back! Which is good because when I was checking to see if anything had been taken, I noticed that my driver's license was in there /o\ I HAVE THE DUMB. But all was well! Bffl and I had Coldstone Creamery for dinner, I bought a Summerfest shirt to change into, and when Cage the Elephant ended we busted ass past all the people leaving and scored fifth row seats after not even being in the seating area \o/
The show itself was awesoooooooome. I wasn't actually super crazy about the band before seeing them (I'd only known one song and got the album when bffl said she wanted to go see them) but they were AMAZING. If you haven't listened to them, DO IT! There isn't a song I don't like on the album, and they were even better live. Some are gorgeous and some are super boppy and fun! And everyone in the band is totally attractive and talented and loldorable! AWESOME! Bffl said it was the best show she's seen since U2, better than Springsteen (this is a huge thing from her--she bought a Springsteen purse from the lady I bought Bowie!purse from). I got home safely! With awesome loot! And awesome memories!
